The quality of news

This morning over breakfast (the mangos are really good at the moment) we were discussing world events (a few of us always listen to the World Service before we get up) and discussing the usual mix of bombings in Iraq, troop movements in Congo, oil prices, and even the odd thing closer to home, such as Gbagbo and his tiresome supporters or the damaging row between the Dutch government and MSF-H over the ransom payment. And then Grace (our new admin expat) informs us that J-Lo has got married again. That really highlighted how we miss the important news out here! Anything similar that can help to keep things in perspective will be gratefully received...

Ok, you asked for it - banal updates from celeb world - (for some reason, these seem to be very baby oriented.. sorry 'bout that :-) Courtney Cox had a baby girl named Coco and Julia Roberts is apparently expecting twins. On other fronts, Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 is creating a furor over here and, apparently, according to the vaunted 9/11 panel, there is not, nor was there ever, a connection between Iraq and al Qaeda... what a surprise. Oh, and the new Harry Potter movie is awesome. 'Sat help? (and I just want you to know I had to look up that celeb gossip... it was not sitting here in my brain)
